Air Force Academy boxing team went 4-4 on Friday night in Reno, NV, as they matched up with Santa Clara, UNLV, and University of Nevada-Reno. Team Captain Boyce Loomis was named boxer of the week for the second straight week for his knockout victory over All-American Kenny Dyer-Redner. Loomis and Redner showed lots of respect in a cautious first round. The second round had both boxers moving in with aggressive combinations. Loomis caught Redner with a straight right 30 seconds into the round sending his opponent to the canvas. Redner attempted to get up at the count of 8 but was dazed and wobbly as the referee stepped in to halt the action. This event concludes the Falcon’s preparation for the upcoming Wing Open Tournament starting 18 February 2009. Mark your calendars for the finals Sunday, March 8th at 2pm in Clune Arena
