The Falcons ended their Friday Night Fights with a 14 bout card. The Wing Open hopefuls took this opportunity to hone their skills and gain experience for the start of the tournament on 18 February 2009. The Thursday shake-out practice was excellent and everyone’s focus was spot on to the delight of Coach Baldi. “You could see it in their eyes and demeanor on Thursday that they were hungry and ready to go.” Said Coach Baldi. Coach Weichers was excited for 2 days and could hardly wait for the opening bell to sound. With only 2 weeks remaining until the Quarterfinal round when it becomes a win or go home battle, the cadets showed a great sense of urgency in the nights competitions. Boxer of the week was awarded to senior Nate Liptak for his win over fellow senior Sean May in one of the classiest boxing matches of the year. Liptak’s good movement, defense, and combination punching were the key to victory.
